I have tried using variable width strokes (see attachment), but much prefer a consistent stroke width (as above) – though I'm quite torn between the two versions.
The top version is easier to read and the 'P' being separate means it could be used on its own if required, which may come in handy.
The bottom version is perhaps more interesting and I do like that it's one continuous flowing line. However, although I believe it's still easy to see it says 'Paul', I'm worried people may find the connection between the 'P' and 'a' a little distracting, or they may look for extra meaning in it, where there is none.
So one last time, top or bottom?
